Fraser's Weekly Throughts
SuperJam goes down in history...
As part of it's 'Scotland; A changing Nation' exhibition, the National Museum of Scotland has used the SuperJam brand as an example of innovation from the Scottish food industry in the 21st Century. We are showcased alongside icons such as Tunnocks, Irn-Bru and Baxters. Pretty cool.

You can visit the exhibition anytime over the next couple of years and read all about the political, cultural and economic changes that Scotland has gone through over the past century. There is also a cool video that is on display in the exhibition and also online here , describing what makes my home country so great, but also talking about some of the problems it still faces.

There are a few familiar faces in the video, including my friend John, winner of Celebrity Big Brother Hijack. He's standing up for a lot of important issues concerning young people in Scotland and in particular our hometown of Edinburgh.

The whole exhibition is definitely worth a look and, of course, it's completely free.
The International Toaster Museum...
Although I like to promote jam as being versatile and tasty on porridge, oatcakes, yoghurt, rice pudding and all kinds of things, one thing remains true, nothing beats some buttered toast with a healthy layer of jam.

I recently came across one of the oddest and frankly coolest 'museums' in the world, The International Toaster Museum . I'm a big fan of old typewriters, toasters and general retro contraptions. The Toaster Museum, created by designer Jens Veerbeck, boasts a collection of about 600 old toasters, ranging from the likes of this 60's beauty to toasters that twirl and flip your toast and even toasters made out of porcelain.

I must confess that my own toaster is fairly standard issue but this website has inspired me to hunt out an impractical mechanical monster with levers and springs that'll probably burn my toast but look damn cool in my kitchen...
Talking about jam on MacAulay & Co. on Radio Scotland...

It is now the season when folks start making jam at home.  Obviously (other than SuperJam..) nothing tastes better than homemade jam.   I went on BBC Radio Scotland's MacAuley and Co. show this morning to share my tips for making your own tasty jam at home.  You can listen to the broadcast here. Feel free to fast forward to 1:04:00, where the jam chat starts.

I shared my recipe for Raspberry & Cranberry jam, which the Beeb kindly popped on their website here.

The co-presenter Kim had a shot at making the recipe at home but, thankfully, Richard thought the SuperJam version tasted best...
SuperJam goes to....

Uganda!

As you know, we've been running a wee competition on the website.  If you take a photo of yourself with your jar of SuperJam in some place exotic, we'll send you a bunch of SuperJam goodies.  So far, we've had photos of folks in front of the Eiffel Tower, Big Ben, in New York and even in Tokyo.

Recently, Emily went on a trip to Uganda to do some volunteering work with a community there.  She loves SuperJam so much that she couldn't go all that way without taking it with her and sending back some snaps.  Good work Emily, we'll send you a whole pile of well earned SuperJam stuff!
Tea Cosy of the Week....

As part of The SuperJam Tea Parties , we've been kindly receiving donations of various hand-knitted tea cosies, made especially for the project by various dedicated and incredibly skilled knitters.  I've decided that it would be wrong not to feature these knitted marvels on the blog.  Each week, i'll put up the best one and the winner will get a whole bunch of jam.  Feel free to get your knitting needles out and create a masterpiece!

This bumble bee-esque beauty was knitted by a member of the Edinburgh CSV.  You can have a look at their website here and find out about all kinds of volunteering opportunities in your area.

Happy Knitting!
A wee poem..
This is a delightful little poem that I was sent this afternoon from an adoring fan. I couldn't not post it on the blog!

For Fraser

Your Rhubarb & Ginger
Has just kissed my toast.
It made friends with butter,
Like waves hug the coast!

Its taste was exquisite
And danced in my mouth.
A wee jig from Scotland
For Celts in the South!

A sugar free symphony,
Packed with real fruits.
Composed by young Fraser,
Who sure knows his roots!
